As Delnaaz Irani gears up for the second season of her hit food show Swaad Aur Sitare, she shared that it was always a dream for her. She enjoys meeting people and is happy that through the show the audience will get to see her real self.
She said, "This has been a dream show for me because I’ve always wanted to do something that brings together food and people. I’m a people person and genuinely enjoy meeting new people. Through this show, audiences will see the real me—there’s no script. It’s simply about taking two people out for a meal and letting conversations flow naturally, whether it’s with the guests, chefs, or even the staff. "Everything is candid and organic."
She is not one to brief her guests about anything, as she wants it to be authentic. She said, "I simply tell them we’re going out for a meal—no questions, no preparation. That’s what keeps the conversations real. When people aren’t prepared and are just enjoying themselves, there’s no room for anything to feel performative."
And Delnaaz doesn't want the conversation to revolve around any deep dark secret or any confessions; rather, she wants it to be about love, laughter, and food. She said, "Life is too short to hold grudges or take everything too seriously. If a deeper conversation happens naturally, that’s fine—but I don’t intentionally steer it in that direction. The idea is to keep things light, fun, and comfortable."
Asked what makes the show stand out, she said, "There are many food talk shows, but mine is different because I actually take celebrities out for a meal. It’s not a typical sit-down podcast; it’s more about eating than talking! It’s fun, lively, and spontaneous."
"The biggest challenge is curating the right pairings and choosing the perfect places, which requires a lot of thought and planning," she added.
This season, Delnaaz is experimenting with unique concepts and special dining experiences. "For example, the episode with Rajan Sir and Ishika was at a fully vegan and organic restaurant with very unique dishes and drinks," she said, adding that for Season 3, she would love to go beyond Mumbai and "explore the interiors of the country, discovering local and regional cuisines."
